Columbia University, founded in 1754, is the oldest institution of learning in New York State and the fifth oldest in the United States. It is located in Upper Manhattan, in Morningside Heights, and occupies 32 acres. Columbia is organized into 20 schools and administers the Pulitzer Prize annually.
