The Manitou School was established in 2014 with 50 students attending from preschool through fourth grade. Located in a gorgeous historic property in Cold Spring, NY, the school offers a full-immersion Spanish and English bilingual program, uses progressive teaching methods, and features a warm, engaging environment where children can learn and grow. The Manitou School is committed to expanding up to the eighth grade.
NY Engineers provided professional MEP/FP engineering consultation services for the renovation. The project consists of renovating the 16,000 ft2 building with 3 floors. The majority of the renovation occurred on the 1st floor of 9,000 ft2, the 2nd floor of 1,500 ft2 was shut off and untouched, the mechanical cellar of 6,000 ft2 was reused with minor modification. The Building was an inn and was converted into a K-4 school with plans to expand grades each year. Kitchen, toilet exhaust, and ventilation were provided. Heating was reused. Air Conditioning wasn’t designed. .

Constructed in 1940 as part of the government funded Works Project Administration, Midwood High School is home to a large population of gifted students.
