What started out in 2005 by a social worker and several volunteers as passing out supplies from a nylon knapsack, the Washington Heights CORNER Project (Community Outreach and Resources, Needle Exchange Program) has grown to become the first not-for-profit social service organization of its kind in Washington Heights.
Aiming to reduce the number of blood-borne diseases, CORNER Project provides those in need with sterile medical supplies, supportive and recovery counseling, wellness evaluations, crisis intervention, HIV exams, safe sex and drug education and literature, and various other tools to the public. With the mission of providing evidence-based education and support to make healthy and positive life changes, the CORNER Project has provided hundreds of people with the tools to succeed.
