CHALLENGES
Planet Smoothie was planning to open a new store in Florida. The place was a small white box space with an existing MEP system and electrical, water, and sanitary services provided by the base building.
The client was looking for a low-cost design by utilizing the existing services provided by the base building.
Following were the challenges-
- Design the MEP system using existing base building services and existing rooftop unit, ductwork & domestic water piping.
- Fit the complete system within a small space.
- Running the services from the existing service location to the new space by keeping the other existing commercial stores in operation.
SOLUTION
Our team of engineering design experts took the challenge to design Planet Smoothie and found the best possible route for the ductwork and domestic water piping to reuse existing rooftop unit, ductwork, and water piping without affecting the operations of other stores.
Water, sewer, and electrical power load were calculated and satisfied within the available existing load in compliance with all local and energy conservation requirements. A small ceiling-mounted storage water heater was provided to reduce the equipment space. A small under-floor point of use grease trap was provided to reduce excavation cost.
We saved the cost and time for the client by providing quick, and affordable design within 2 weeks which resulted in the smooth start-up of the new smoothie store before the timeline.
Scope includes plumbing, HVAC & electrical.
