Originally the Wadleigh High School for Girls, IS 88 Manhattan first opened its doors in 1903. Designed in the French Renaissance style, the 5-story building contains 75 classrooms and is split into three separate school organizations: Wadleigh Secondary School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Frederick Douglas Academy II Secondary School, and the Success Academy Harlem West Charter School, which have a combined 1,610 students enrolled.
